New Reception Location

Each year the International Custom Rod Building Exposition plays host to roughly 2000+ custom rod builders. They come to participate in the over two dozen continuing education seminars, visit nearly 50 rod building component supply manufacturers and dealers, and to take advantage of the best deals on rod building stuff you can possibly imagine. But many come for something else as well – the RodMaker Magazine Reception.

Each year since the very second Expo event, RodMaker Magazine has featured an evening of food, fun and door prizes for it’s subscribers who attend the Expo. Roughly 350 to 400 subscribers have attended each and every year.  They have a great time relaxing, eating, drinking and perhaps winning one of the nearly 100 door prizes that are given away each year, including grand prizes like a Renzetti Master Rod Lathe, A Batson Enterprises Rod Wrapping Machine and a Rod Shop Inc. EcoWrapper.  It’s a good time for all and it’s all absolutely free for RodMaker subscribers!

The only problem we’ve run up against in recent years is the available space in the hotel ballroom.  Because I have no idea beforehand just how many will be in attendance, I spend some time sweating as I watch the line outside the ballroom as it grows longer and longer.  I’m always afraid that we’ll fill the room to capacity and still have folks outside waiting to get in. It’s a scenario I’m not going to risk in the future.

So, for 2011 the RodMaker Reception be moving to a new location – Centennial Station, a refurbished freight train depot now used for weddings, meetings, parties, etc.,  It’s a little larger than the hotel ballroom and will give us just a bit more breathing room.  Located just two blocks east of the Showplace, it’s within easy walking distance of many of the hotels utilized by the Expo attendees and is operated by a staff that is committed to hosting just this type of affair. They’re good people and know how to handle something like this.

I’ll list more information as we get closer to the actual event next February. For now, I take pleasure in announcing that the RodMaker Reception is a go for 2011 and with a little more elbow room to boot!

Good site! This was a great entry and brought back a lot of memories. I like what you are doing with this. The Reception is always a nice time and lots of fun. The Expo is beyond anything else out there for rod builders.
