Custom Rod Photos

The largest collection of custom rod building photos on the internet can be found at www.rodbuilding.org/photopost.  Over 10,000 photos of all manner of custom rods, decorative wraps, rod building tools, etc., etc., can be found there. That’s right – over 10,000 custom rod photos!

At the bottom of each photo is a comment box. Due to my daily workload, I don’t often have time to leave such comments, but in some cases I make time. Any comments I leave are generally pretty short and sweet, but the motivation behind them is a bit more involved. I’ll explain.

Not too long ago I was taken to task for not leaving comments under the photos posted by some of the old timers (guys who really know their stuff) and instead, commenting only on photos posted by newcomers. There’s a reason for that. The old timers certainly don’t need validation from me to know they’re doing great work. I wish I did have time to comment on their latest efforts, but it would only confirm what they already know – that they do great work.

It’s the newcomers that are still unsure about their abilities, unsure if they’re doing things well enough, unsure if they’ll ever improve to the level of some of the old timers. My hope, is that now that they’ve taken the plunge and gotten involved in custom rod building, that they’ll stick with it for the long haul. That’s why I take a few moments each day and try to leave an encouraging comment about their latest rod.

Maybe, just maybe, a kind comment from a rod building magazine publisher might convince them that they’re doing okay and on the right track. If that helps keep them involved in this craft, then I’ve achieved my goal with those few but possibly very important words.
